AASL National School Library Standards: Progress toward Implementation

This mixed-methods, exploratory case study examines perceptions of the implementation U.S. National School Library Standards for Learners, Librarians, and Libraries. A survey was first distributed to gain insight into school librarian NSLS. Participants included practitioners in state Virginia United States who had attended professional development training on (NSLS). sample then interviewed about their implementation. Using standards levels identified by California Common Core Implementation Task Force (2019) as a framework, findings indicate that after one year use, many librarians remain at awareness phase Findings do suggest some areas which have shown progress they implement practice. Finally, common challenges or barriers implementing NSLS are noted. Future directions research recommendations both school/district level national organization suggested.
